...and then she was one.

On Saturday, we celebrated Elly's first birthday. Both sets of grandparents, and her aunt Becky, uncle Justin, and cousin Nathan came to party. Everyone was greeted at the door by that same giggling cloud of balloons, which had by now become completely entangled around her leg.

Elly also wanted to show off her newest skills of hugs and kisses. Nathan in particular, being a little more accessible at her level, was the target of several ambush hugs. I don't think he quite knew what to think of all that girly affection, poor guy.

Grandma Harding came early to help with the cake decorating (thank goodness).

When it came time to open cards and presents, Elly got the hang of things pretty quickly.

Even cousin Nathan got in on the fun.

I think Elly liked being sung to.

She also loved the cake! That makes Daddy happy.

She had a great day, as did we all. Cori and I can't wait to see what year two brings.

Special thanks to Joe Pastry for his awesome tutorials on yellow cake and buttercream frosting.
