Elly, 11 months old.

Elly is now in full-tilt toddler mode. She constantly keeps us on our toes, as she literally runs from one thing to the next. She has also developed her own little (or rather, big) personality.

Shortly after Cori and I were married, we were visiting her parents, and after a typical bout of ribbing from Cori, her father gave her the old parental "I hope someday you have kids who are just like you." I took a little joking offense at that remark...I always thought he was on MY side. Well, we should have learned from Noah that those fatherly curses have lasting effects. Elly has definitely developed Cori's "impish" nature. Her favorite activites this month are: taking papers out of the trash, stealing the remote, and pulling every last piece of tupperware out of the cabinets. But, also like her mother, she is oh so affectionate and loveable. She has learned to blow kisses, and bestows them, along with a cheerful "HI!!!" on any passing stranger. She leaves little trails of joy behind her, everwhere she goes.

The week after Thanksgiving, all three of us came down with the flu, derailing our Christmas tree hunting and decorating plans. So we postponed them until the next weekend. Happily, in the week between, we got our first real snowfall of the year. Taking Elly along as we hunted that wascawwy Cwistmas twee was a weaw tweat...sorry, a real treat.

...and then came the big day. Elly turned one year old on Thursday, Dec 17. We didn't have the family together to celebrate until Saturday, but she got some balloons on her birthday, and honestly, I think those were her favorite present. She carried them around from room to room all afternoon. Cori and I would be working in the kitchen, and a big bundle of balloons would come floating into the room. We'd be sitting in the living room, and a giggling cloud of balloons would wander by.

Daddy spent the evening of her birthday baking her cake and making the icing. The cake wasn't assembled until Saturday, but Elly got a taste of the frosting on her birthday.
